Jacob Darby

Growing up in Perth, Jacob first wowed audiences with his childhood magic shows where he made his siblings (conveniently) disappear. In his late teen years, he performed in original plays and musicals at the University of Western Australia’s ‘Dramatic Society’, (once home to Tim Minchin), before beginning his three year Bachelor of Music Theatre at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.
He has performed as a soloist in the Lucy Durack and Friends concert, sung on Telethon, and worked as an entertainer on board Captain Cook Cruises to support himself through his training. In addition to theatre, he also enjoys acrobatics, trampoline, and trapeze, and has a keen interest in screen acting.
In his second year at WAAPA, Jacob was honoured to play Chino in the third year production of West Side Story. He then starred as Noah in Children of Eden. In his final year, he played the roles of Grandmaster Chad and Carlos in Legally Blonde, Eric in Carrie, and, most notably, Bobby Strong in Urinetown. ‘
Jacob is super excited to be a part of Song Contest, as it is his first show since graduating WAAPA.
